is a good place to dive for Abalone you ask?

wait there's more, much more Abalone diving along the Mendocino coast!
- South
Caspar Point: On Point Cabrillo Drive, turn west on the hill
before or after Caspar Campground. Park in the small lot by the gate. There
is a handicapped access to the bluff and a climb down the cliff to dive. This
is a residential area so please respect their private property.
- Caspar
Beach:
On Point Cabrillo Drive, there is a large beach with access for kayaks or
boat launch. And in the winter on low tide you can walk right out and pic
them off the rocks!
- South
of Anchor Bay: Park on the south bound side of the highway. It
is a very steep climb down the cliff to the shore.
- Anchor
Bay Campground: Abalone can be done at either the north or south
end of the beach.
- Schooner
Gulch:
Park on the south-bound side of the highway. There is a small state park unit
and a pit toilet on the trail to the beach.
- Whiskey
Shoals: Park on the north-bound side of the highway. There is a
gate on the private property and a trail to the shore.
- Moat
Creek Surf Access: There is a parking lot with a trail to the shore.
- Point
Arena Cove and Pier:
Turn west off the highway onto Port Road to the pier. There is a large parking
lot with big pier, small shopping center which includes a restaurant, pizza
parlor, and gift shops. Dive on south side of the beach. The town of Point
Arena is nearby.
- Greenwood
Creek State Beach:
Park in the gravel parking lot on west side of the highway .There is a pit
toilet, an old trail down to the shore, a nearby store, gas station and a
visitor center nearby
- Albion
River Campground:
There is a private campground just right off the bridge, a boat ramp, a small
store and showers. Dive right off the beach along the cove.
- Van
Damme State Park: There is a state park campground and beach,
a parking lot on the side of the highway, and good abalone diving area despite
heavy use by the public. There are pit toilets, outside showers and kayak
rental available.
- Chapman
Point:
Park in the small parking area by the fence. It is a small state park property
with a very long hike to the shore.
- Brewery
Gulch: Park in the paved parking area. There is a very steep
trail to the beach that makes carrying gear nearly impossible. However it
is a very good dive area.
- Mendocino
Headlands State Park:
Turn west on Little Lake or Main Street to the headland. Park in the parking
lot. There is a good access to the shore and beach. Or take Hessel Drive to
the loop and parking lot. There is also parking right off the bridge on Lansing
Street and Highway 1 and a trail from there down to the shore.
- Jack
Peters Gulch: Turn west on 500D and park along the road by
the fence. Take the trail down the cliff to the beach. Or drive to the end
of the road, park and take the trail to the beach.
- Russian
Gulch State Park and Campground: There is a state park campground
and beach, parking lot with restroom and shower and a picnic area nearby.
There is good abalone diving up along the shore.
- Glass
Beach: Turn west on Elm Street and go a 1/4 mile to the low
bluff. Until the 1960's the beach was the town dump and is now filled with
millions of different colored sounded glass and porcelain pieces.
- Kibesillah:
There is a small parking area, and a very, very steep hike down to the beach.
Please be very very cautious!
- DeHaven
Creek, Westport-Union Landing State Park: At the South part
of the park, there is a stair down the bluff to the beach.
- Abalone
Point, Westport-Union Landing State Park: Go North past the
campground to the area where the sign is and park. There is a long stairway
to the rocks.
- Hardy
Creek: There is a small roadside parking area with a good abalone
rock picking place.
